SLC7A5 antisense RNA 1 (SLC7A5-AS1)

Target
SLC7A5-AS1
Molecular classification
Other (long non-coding RNA, lncRNA)
01

Overview

SLC7A5-AS1 is a long non-coding RNA transcribed antisense to the SLC7A5 gene. It does not code for a protein, but may regulate SLC7A5 expression and influence cellular metabolism and proliferation. Its exact biological function and disease relevance remain largely uncharacterized. SLC7A5-AS1 is sometimes mistaken for the SLC7A5 protein transporter (LAT1), a well-known drug target, but should not be considered a canonical therapeutic target itself. SLC7A5-AS1 is a non-protein-coding transcript and not a transporter, receptor, or enzyme. No drugs, mechanisms of action, clinically validated biomarkers, or safety concerns are documented for SLC7A5-AS1; relevant literature focuses mainly on its potential regulatory function in cancer and gene expression.
