Sleeping Beauty transposase is an engineered enzyme used for genome integration via the Sleeping Beauty transposon system. It mediates a "cut-and-paste" mechanism to excise a DNA segment (transposon) and integrate it into a target genome. While it preferentially integrates at TA dinucleotide sites, engineered variants aim to improve targeting specificity and safety profiles.
