Overview

SLFNL1 antisense RNA 1 (SLFNL1-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene located on chromosome 1 and transcribed antisense to the SLFNL1 gene[4][5]. As an antisense lncRNA, SLFNL1-AS1 is presumed to regulate its sense gene through mechanisms such as post-transcriptional modification, mRNA stability, and possibly epigenetic regulation, as established for other antisense lncRNAs[6]. The gene is annotated in major databases, but there is little published data describing its specific biological role or involvement in disease. Unlike well-characterized targets, it is not currently considered a druggable therapeutic target, nor are there drugs or biomarkers linked directly to SLFNL1-AS1. While the general class of antisense lncRNAs is increasingly recognized for their regulatory functions, including roles in cancer and other diseases[6], SLFNL1-AS1 itself is not yet well studied. If more specific functional or disease associations are discovered in future research, the classification may be revised. As of now, SLFNL1-AS1 is best described as a member of the antisense lncRNA family with presumed gene regulatory activity[3][4][5].
