Overview

SLIT and NTRK like family member 4 (SLITRK4) is a transmembrane protein belonging to the SLITRK family, characterized by two N-terminal leucine-rich repeat (LRR) domains similar to those in axon guidance proteins SLIT, and C-terminal regions with resemblance to neurotrophin receptors[1][3][5]. SLITRK4 is implicated in the regulation of neuronal development, with functions including suppression of neurite outgrowth and roles in synaptogenesis and synapse differentiation[1]. Altered function of its homologs in mammals has been linked to neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric disorders, including autism spectrum disorder and certain brain tumors[1]. No interacting drugs or direct therapeutic applications have yet been approved, and its molecular mechanisms and possible clinical targeting remain subjects of ongoing research[1][3].
