Overview

SLIT-ROBO Rho GTPase activating protein 2D (SRGAP2D) is classified as a pseudogene located on chromosome 1q21.1 in humans[2][5][9]. It is a human-specific paralog that arose by segmental duplication of the functional SRGAP2B locus, but SRGAP2D lacks an internal exon and is therefore considered non-functional[1][2][3][9]. The expression of SRGAP2D is much lower than that of related SRGAP2 family members, particularly SRGAP2C, which is implicated in cortical neuron development and human brain evolution[2][4][6]. SRGAP2D does not encode a functional protein, and there is no evidence it serves as a receptor, enzyme, or other therapeutic target[1][2][3][5][9]. Key points: - SRGAP2D is not a functional gene or protein but a *pseudogene*; therefore, it is not considered a therapeutic target[1][2][3][5][9]. - There are no established aliases apart from standardized nomenclature variations. - It does not participate in known biological pathways or disease mechanisms, nor does it interact with drugs or serve as a biomarker[1][2][3][9]. - Closely related, functional SRGAP2 proteins (like SRGAP2A and SRGAP2C) are involved in neurodevelopment, particularly in regulation of cortical neuron development, but these are distinct from SRGAP2D[4].
