Overview

SLX1 structure-specific endonuclease subunit homolog A pseudogene (ENSG00000279228) is a genomic region classified as a pseudogene. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences that resemble protein-coding genes but are typically nonfunctional due to disruptive mutations, lack of regulatory elements, or incomplete coding regions. This locus does not produce a functional protein and is therefore not relevant for drug targeting or therapeutic development. The functional version of this gene, SLX1A, encodes the catalytic subunit of the SLX1-SLX4 structure-specific endonuclease complex, which participates in the resolution of DNA repair intermediates[3], but ENSG00000279228 itself does not encode this protein or contribute to these functions[7][4].
