Small, Dense Low-Density Lipoprotein (sdLDL)

Small, dense low-density lipoprotein (sdLDL) is a subclass of LDL particles characterized by their smaller size and higher density compared to larger LDL particles. sdLDL is considered the most atherogenic form of LDL due to its increased propensity to penetrate the arterial wall, become oxidized, and contribute to the development of atherosclerosis. Elevated levels of sdLDL are strongly associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular diseases.
