Small Cajal body-specific RNA 13 (SCARNA13, also known as U93) is a non-coding RNA of the scaRNA family that localizes to the Cajal bodies, a nuclear subcompartment involved in the maturation of small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs). SCARNA13 is classified as an H/ACA box snoRNA, meaning it forms a complex with proteins such as dyskerin and guides pseudouridylation, a specific RNA modification, likely targeting spliceosomal snRNAs. Its main function is thought to be the modification of RNA molecules involved in pre-mRNA splicing, helping regulate gene expression and RNA maturation. SCARNA13 has no established direct drug interactions and is not recognized as a therapeutic target but may play a role in diseases, particularly certain cancers.
