Overview

Small Cajal body-specific RNA 14 (SCARNA14, also known as U100) is a small nucleolar RNA that localizes to Cajal bodies in the nucleus of eukaryotic cells. SCARNA14 belongs to the H/ACA box class of guide RNAs, characterized by a hairpin-hinge-hairpin-tail structure and conserved sequence motifs. Its primary function is to guide the pseudouridylation of specific nucleotides within U2 spliceosomal snRNA, particularly residue U7, thereby modulating the maturation and function of spliceosomal RNAs essential for pre-mRNA splicing[1]. SCARNA14 is a non-coding RNA molecule and does not encode a protein[1].
