Overview

Small Cajal body-specific RNA 18B (SCARNA18B) is a member of the scaRNA family, which are small non-coding RNAs that accumulate in Cajal bodies—nuclear sub-organelles implicated in the post-transcriptional modification of spliceosomal RNAs. scaRNAs serve as guide RNAs for the site-specific 2′-O-methylation and pseudouridylation of small nuclear RNAs (snRNAs) involved in pre-mRNA splicing[1][3][5][4]. This molecule is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or conventional drug target, and currently has no direct implication in drug interactions, disease mechanisms, or biomarker roles. Its primary function relates to the maturation of snRNAs within the Cajal body.
