KCNN3, also known as SK3 or KCa2.3, is a voltage-independent potassium channel activated by intracellular calcium. It mediates potassium ion transport across cell membranes, contributing to membrane hyperpolarization and regulating neuronal excitability. The channel is regulated by calmodulin and is specifically blocked by apamin. KCNN3 is widely expressed, especially in the brain and smooth muscle, and is associated with diseases like Zimmermann-Laband Syndrome.
