Small integral membrane protein 35 (SMIM35, HGNC:44179) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11q23.3 and is predicted to encode an integral membrane protein based on sequence analysis. The gene is also referred to as TMPRSS4-AS1 and a non-protein-coding TMPRSS4 antisense transcript, but in this context SMIM35 refers specifically to the membrane protein, not the antisense RNA. No evidence exists to classify SMIM35 as a receptor, transporter, enzyme, or therapeutic target, and its precise biological function and relevance to disease remain to be determined in the scientific literature and major biomedical databases.
