Overview

Small nuclear ribonucleoprotein D2 pseudogene 1 (SNRPD2P1), also known as bA478K7.1, is a pseudogene; it is a nonfunctional segment of DNA that resembles the functional small nuclear ribonucleoprotein D2 (SNRPD2) gene but does not encode a functional protein product[1][5]. Pseudogenes are typically the result of duplication or retrotransposition events and have lost their protein-coding or regulatory functions[5]. Therefore, SNRPD2P1 is not a functional gene, is not a therapeutic target or receptor, and does not participate in biological pathways or disease mechanisms. All information relevant to functional splicing proteins or disease is associated with the parent gene SNRPD2, not the SNRPD2P1 pseudogene[1][4][5].
