Target intelligence / Profile preview

Small nuclear ribonucleoprotein polypeptide C pseudogene 14 (SNRPCP14)

Target
SNRPCP14
Molecular classification
Other, Pseudogene
01

Overview

Small nuclear ribonucleoprotein polypeptide C pseudogene 14 (SNRPCP14) is a non-functional duplicate (pseudogene) of the protein-coding gene for small nuclear ribonucleoprotein polypeptide C (SNRPC). Unlike its parent gene, SNRPCP14 does not encode a protein and is not directly involved in cellular processes. Pseudogenes may occasionally have regulatory roles at the RNA level, such as modulating the expression of related genes through RNA-mediated mechanisms, but primary databases and scientific literature provide no evidence for a specific regulatory, disease, or therapeutic relevance of SNRPCP14.

Mechanism of action

None. There is no mechanism of drug action for this locus.

03

Biological functions

Acts as a non-coding genetic elementCan potentially regulate gene expression at the RNA level, for example by acting as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) or through production of antisense transcripts
04

Disease associations

Other; While some pseudogenes have been implicated in gene expression regulation and in disease pathways, there is no evidence that SNRPCP14 itself plays a direct role in disease
