Overview

Small nuclear ribonucleoprotein polypeptide C pseudogene 5 (SNRPCP5) is a human pseudogene related to the SNRPC gene, which encodes a protein component of the spliceosomal small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs). Pseudogenes are typically non-functional sequences derived from parent genes and do not produce functional proteins. SNRPCP5 is annotated in genomic databases but lacks evidence of a protein product, clear expression profiles, or biological roles. There are no known links to disease, biomarkers, or therapeutic relevance for this pseudogene. It should not be confused with functional snRNP protein-coding genes or those pseudogenes with demonstrated regulatory or ceRNA activity. The closest analogous example is SNRPFP1 (a pseudogene of SNRPF), which in hepatocellular carcinoma acts via a long non-coding RNA transcript to sponge miR-126-5p and promote cancer growth. However, there is no published evidence of such a role for SNRPCP5 specifically. Pseudogenes can sometimes have important regulatory lncRNA activity, but this is not currently supported for this target. If you intended a different, protein-coding component of the small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (such as SNRPC), there would be substantial biological detail, as these are core elements of the spliceosome complex involved in pre-mRNA splicing. SNRPCP5, however, is a non-coding pseudogene, not a canonical target.
