Overview

Small nuclear ribonucleoprotein polypeptide G pseudogene 12 (SNRPGP12) is a human pseudogene that shares sequence similarity to the functional gene encoding small nuclear ribonucleoprotein polypeptide G, a component of the spliceosomal machinery. However, SNRPGP12 itself is not protein-coding, and there is no evidence it is transcribed or plays a regulatory function. Like other pseudogenes, it is classified as a non-coding genomic locus, typically considered to lack biological activity, except in cases where pseudogenes function as regulatory RNAs by competing for microRNA binding — a function only demonstrated for a few well-studied cases. SNRPGP12 is not considered a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or established disease gene. In summary: SNRPGP12 is a pseudogene, not a protein-coding gene or therapeutic target. It is not considered a receptor or drug target, and has no recognized biological or disease role, documented function, or clinical relevance at this time.
