Small nuclear ribonucleoprotein polypeptide G pseudogene 16 (SNRPGP16) is a human pseudogene listed with approved status by the HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee[2]. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences related to functional genes but typically lack the ability to encode functional proteins due to mutations, frameshifts, or absence of regulatory elements. Some pseudogenes can be transcribed and participate in gene regulation at the RNA level, but there is currently no published functional or clinical information specific to SNRPGP16. Pseudogenes as a class can exert biological effects by producing non-coding RNAs that modulate the expression of their parental or related genes, but the roles of individual pseudogenes (including SNRPGP16) remain largely uncharacterized outside of a few well-studied examples[3]. No evidence establishes SNRPGP16 as a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or biomarker, nor are there any associated drugs, mechanisms of action, or disease roles directly attributed to it. Its classification is therefore “pseudogene,” not a canonical biological target as would be relevant for drug discovery or clinical use[2][3].
