Small nuclear RNA activating complex polypeptide 5 pseudogene 1 (SNAPC5P1)

Target
SNAPC5P1
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Noncoding RNA locus
01

Overview

Small nuclear RNA activating complex polypeptide 5 pseudogene 1 (SNAPC5P1) is a human pseudogene with strong sequence similarity to the coding gene SNAPC5, which encodes a subunit of the small nuclear RNA activating complex involved in snRNA transcription[2][3][5][6]. Unlike SNAPC5, SNAPC5P1 does not produce a functional protein and has no established molecular activity, clinical relevance, or therapeutic utility. Pseudogenes such as SNAPC5P1 are generally nonfunctional, though some pseudogenes can act as regulatory RNAs (e.g., by modulating miRNAs or serving as ceRNAs), but there is no evidence for such activity or disease association specific to SNAPC5P1[1][5][2][3].

Mechanism of action

none

03

Biological functions

No protein-coding or known molecular function attributable directly to SNAPC5P1[2][3][5]
04

Disease associations

None directly attributed; general pseudogene functions may involve gene regulation, ceRNA activity, or disease in other contexts, but no evidence for SNAPC5P1 in clinical pathology[1][2][3][5]
