Target intelligence / Profile preview
Small nucleolar RNA host gene 10 (SNHG10) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that regulates gene expression through several molecular mechanisms including acting as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA); it is generally not translated into protein. SNHG10 is overexpressed in multiple human cancers such as colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, triple-negative breast cancer, and osteosarcoma, where it promotes tumor progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, often via sponging specific microRNAs (e.g., miR-3690). Elevated SNHG10 levels are associated with worse prognosis in some cancers. Preclinical studies show that SNHG10 knockdown suppresses tumor cell growth and migration, suggesting a therapeutic potential for RNA-based targeting approaches. SNHG10 is also under investigation as a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker due to its upregulation in tumor tissues. There are currently no approved drugs targeting SNHG10, and safety concerns (e.g., off-target effects, effective delivery) remain key challenges for translation to the clinic.
Gene suppression via siRNA or antisense oligonucleotides (downregulation decreases proliferation, migration, invasion of cancer cells); Targeting lncRNA/miRNA interaction (e.g., modulating SNHG10/miR-3690 axis)
