Mechanistically, SNHG19 acts mainly through a "competitive endogenous RNA" (ceRNA) pathway by sponging microRNAs such as miR-137, leading to the upregulation of oncogenes like E2F7, and thereby facilitating tumorigenesis[1][4]. Research suggests that SNHG19 may serve as a potential diagnostic and prognostic biomarker in cancers, especially lung and breast cancer, but no current data link it to any approved or experimental drugs, nor is it considered a direct therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or similar[2][3]. Unlike protein-coding targets, SNHG19 and other lncRNAs primarily exert their functions by regulating gene expression post-transcriptionally and epigenetically, and may play broader roles in tumorigenesis and potentially in immune regulation, as has been described for other SNHG family members[5].
