Overview

Small nucleolar RNA SNORA31 (SNORA31) is a non-protein-coding RNA gene located on chromosome 9, responsible for guiding the modification (specifically, pseudouridylation) of ribosomal RNA nucleotides. SNORA31 belongs to the H/ACA box class of small nucleolar RNAs, which target uridine residues in substrate RNAs for conversion to pseudouridine, a process essential for the proper function and maturation of ribosomal RNA. There are currently no known direct drug interactions or major disease roles established for SNORA31, and it is not considered a canonical therapeutic target in drug development or clinical practice[9][5]. No protein product, receptor, enzyme activity, or conventional "target" functions are attributed to this locus; it operates purely at the RNA level.
