Overview

Small nucleolar RNA SNORA62, a member of the SNORA6 family, is a non-coding RNA classified as an H/ACA box snoRNA. H/ACA snoRNAs, including SNORA62, localize to the nucleolus and assemble with specific proteins to form small nucleolar ribonucleoproteins (snoRNPs). Their primary role is to guide the site-specific pseudouridylation of ribosomal RNA (rRNA), an essential post-transcriptional modification that contributes to ribosome biogenesis, function, and stability[1][2][3]. snoRNAs can also participate in other processes such as RNA processing and global regulation of gene expression, but no evidence places SNORA62 as a direct therapeutic target or as a validated biomarker in clinical settings. The biological relevance of SNORA62, in common with other snoRNAs, is emerging in cancer and other disease research, mainly through their impact on ribosome function and potential for dysregulation[1].
