Small nucleolar RNA SNORA74 (SNORA74)

SNORA74
Molecular classification
Non-coding RNA, Small nucleolar RNA (snoRNA), H/ACA-box snoRNA

Overview

Small nucleolar RNA SNORA74, also known as U19, belongs to the H/ACA class of snoRNAs, which bind core proteins (such as dyskerin, Gar1p, and Nop10p) to form snoRNP complexes[1][5]. SNORA74 is thought to guide the site-specific modification of uridines to pseudouridines mainly in ribosomal RNAs by base-pairing to substrate RNAs, thereby promoting chemical stability and proper assembly of ribosomal subunits[1][2][5]. SNORA74 may be involved in pre-rRNA processing, but its exact biological functions and disease relevance have not been fully elucidated[1]. While many snoRNAs are dysregulated in cancer and other diseases, and some are studied as therapeutic targets, there is no direct evidence that SNORA74 itself is specifically targeted or used as a disease biomarker[2][3][4][7].
