Overview

Small nucleolar RNA SNORD41 (also known as U41, RNU41) is a member of the C/D box class of small nucleolar RNAs. SNORD41 is a non-coding RNA molecule that is predicted to guide site-specific 2'-O-methylation of ribosomal RNA, specifically the large 28S rRNA at residue U4276. It functions as part of small nucleolar ribonucleoprotein complexes (snoRNPs), binding with core proteins such as fibrillarin, NOP56, NOP58, and SNU13, to catalyze the chemical modification of rRNAs. These modifications are essential for rRNA stability, processing, and the accurate assembly and functioning of ribosomes in eukaryotic cells. SNORD41 is primarily localized in the nucleolus. While dysregulation of some snoRNAs has been implicated in cancer and other diseases, there is currently no evidence that SNORD41 itself acts as a therapeutic target or has established associations with specific diseases[4][2][3][1][5][6].
