Overview

Small nucleolar RNA SNORD5 (SNORD5) is a member of the C/D box family of small nucleolar RNAs, which are typically involved in the chemical modification and processing of other small nuclear RNAs, primarily through methylation and pseudouridylation of precursor ribosomal RNAs. SNORD5 functions in the nucleolus of eukaryotic cells and serves a housekeeping role in ribosome biogenesis. As an RNA gene, SNORD5 does not encode a protein and is not presently recognized as a therapeutic target or biomarker for disease[7][10][1]. Key points: SNORD5 is a non-coding RNA, not a protein, receptor, or conventional drug target[1][7][10]. It acts in RNA modification, not signal transduction or catalysis. No known involvement in human disease, drug interaction, or use as a clinical biomarker.
