Overview

Small nucleolar RNA SNORD63 (snoRNA U63) is a short non-coding RNA located in the nucleolus of eukaryotic cells and belongs to the C/D box snoRNA family, which contains conserved C (UGAUGA) and D (CUGA) motifs essential for its structure and function[2]. SNORD63 guides site-specific 2'-O-methylation of ribosomal RNA, specifically predicted at residue A4531 of 28S rRNA, facilitating precise chemical modification necessary for proper ribosome biogenesis[2]. Like other C/D box snoRNAs, SNORD63 forms a small nucleolar ribonucleoprotein (snoRNP) complex with core proteins (including fibrillarin, NOP56, NOP58, and SNU13)[1][3][5][6]. While snoRNAs can be dysregulated in disease and have been explored as disease modulators or biomarkers (especially in cancer), SNORD63 is not currently an established therapeutic target or widely used biomarker[1][3][4].

Disease associations

Other (Generally, snoRNAs are implicated in disorders if their biogenesis or function is disrupted, and some have emerging roles in cancer and other diseases, but SNORD63 itself is not strongly disease-associated in current literature)
