Small nucleolar RNA U105B (RNU105B) is a member of the box C/D snoRNA family, which are non-coding RNAs typically 60–300 nucleotides long and located in the nucleolus[5]. Box C/D snoRNAs are characterized by conserved sequence motifs known as box C (RUGAUGA) and box D (CUGA), and they assemble with core proteins including fibrillarin, Nop56, Nop58, and SNU13/15.5k to form small nucleolar ribonucleoproteins (snoRNPs)[5][3][1]. The primary role of RNU105B, like other box C/D snoRNAs, is to guide site-specific 2'-O-methylation of ribosomal RNA by direct base pairing to its target site, specifying the nucleotide to be modified, while the protein fibrillarin catalyzes the methylation[3][4]. While snoRNAs as a class are increasingly linked to disease processes, especially cancer (potential diagnostic/prognostic markers and therapeutic targets), there is currently no evidence that RNU105B is directly druggable or classified as a therapeutic *target* in the conventional sense (receptor, enzyme, etc.), nor that it directly interacts with any approved drugs[5].
