Small nucleolar RNA Z6 (snoZ6)

Target
snoZ6
Molecular classification
Small nucleolar RNA (snoRNA), C/D box RNA
01

Overview

Small nucleolar RNA Z6 (snoZ6) is a non-coding RNA classified within the C/D box snoRNA family, a group of RNAs primarily involved in modification and maturation of other RNAs, especially ribosomal RNA. It is located on chromosome 21 and annotated as ENSG00000266692 in the Ensembl database[5]. There is no evidence supporting its role as a receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic target. Its biological function is presumed to be similar to other C/D box snoRNAs, which direct site-specific 2′-O-methylation of substrate RNAs, but specific roles or disease associations have not been described for snoZ6[5].
