Small ribosomal subunit protein uS9 is a highly conserved structural component of the 30S (small) subunit of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cytoplasmic ribosomes. It plays an essential role in stabilizing the structure of the small subunit and facilitating accurate mRNA decoding during translation by interacting with tRNAs at the P site. The C-terminal tail contributes to tRNA affinity at this site, influencing translational fidelity.
