Small ubiquitin-like modifier 2 pseudogene 19 (SUMO2P19) is a pseudogene related to the SUMO2 gene, which encodes a small ubiquitin-like modifier protein involved in a wide range of cellular processes such as nuclear transport, gene expression regulation, apoptosis, DNA repair, and protein stability. While the protein-coding SUMO2 gene is heavily studied for its roles in post-translational modification and regulation of cellular functions, SUMO2P19 itself does not produce a functional protein and is regarded as a non-coding genomic sequence without known direct biological or disease-related functions. Pseudogenes like SUMO2P19 may have regulatory roles at the RNA level, but no such roles are specifically attributed to SUMO2P19 in current scientific literature.
