SMARCE1 pseudogene 6 (SMARCE1P6) is a human pseudogene related to the SMARCE1 gene (SWI/SNF related, matrix associated, actin dependent regulator of chromatin, subfamily e, member 1)[7][9][12]. SMARCE1P6 does not encode a functional protein and is categorized as a non-coding pseudogene; therefore, it does not directly participate in protein-mediated cellular pathways, enzymatic activity, or receptor signaling. Although there is no direct evidence that SMARCE1P6 plays a biological or disease role, pseudogenes have been shown in general to act as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) or miRNA decoys, thus regulating the expression of their parent gene or other genes with similar microRNA binding sites[2]. No evidence is available that SMARCE1P6 is a therapeutic target, or that it is associated with any drug interactions, biomarker utility, or clinical safety concerns. Its main relevance is as a locus related to the SMARCE1 gene, which encodes a core component of the SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complex important for transcriptional regulation and tumor suppression, but SMARCE1P6 itself lacks protein-coding function[7][9][12].
