SMG1 pseudogene 7 (SMG1P7) is a human pseudogene derived from the *SMG1* gene. Pseudogenes are genomically conserved elements generated by duplication or retrotransposon activity, but have lost protein-coding ability through mutations. There is no evidence that SMG1P7 encodes a functional protein, nor is it classified in any protein family such as receptors, enzymes, or transporters. Pseudogenes like SMG1P7 may sometimes regulate other genes at the RNA level, though no research supports such a role for SMG1P7 specifically. SMG1P7 is not a drug target, disease marker, or safety concern, and thus is not relevant to therapeutic development.
