Smooth Muscle Contraction Inhibition

Molecular classification
Physiological Process, Cellular Mechanism
01

Overview

Inhibition of smooth muscle contraction involves various mechanisms that reduce or prevent contractile activity in smooth muscle tissue. This can be achieved by dephosphorylating myosin light chains, reducing intracellular calcium levels, inhibiting Rho kinase, or modulating the protein kinase C pathway. Therapeutic interventions targeting these pathways are used to treat conditions such as hypertension, asthma, gastrointestinal spasms, and urinary retention disorders.
