SMU1 pseudogene 1 (SMU1P1) is a pseudogene putatively related to the SMU1 gene, which encodes a DNA replication regulator and spliceosomal factor involved in mRNA splicing, alternative splicing, and mitotic progression in humans[1][2]. The pseudogene itself does not produce a functional protein, and there is no evidence of its biological role or disease association. In general, pseudogenes may occasionally modulate gene expression via RNA-mediated mechanisms or epigenetic interaction[3], but no such function has been described for SMU1P1.
