SND1 intronic transcript 1 (SND1-IT1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the intronic region of the SND1 gene, also referred to by aliases such as NAG8, NSG-X, and C7orf54[5][6]. SND1-IT1 is non-protein coding and has drawn attention for its possible roles in cancer biology, particularly in nasopharyngeal carcinoma and gastric cancer. It is reported to enhance the malignant transformation of gastric mucosa cells by up-regulating SNAIL1, implicating it in epithelial-mesenchymal transition and cancer progression[5]. While it is not a direct therapeutic target such as an enzyme or receptor, SND1-IT1 is considered for its disease association potential, especially as a biomarker or a modulator in oncogenesis. The molecular classification as a lncRNA distinguishes SND1-IT1 from protein-coding targets, and there is currently insufficient evidence for direct small-molecule drug interactions or established mechanisms of action.
