Overview

SNED1 antisense RNA 1 (SNED1-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene located antisense to the SNED1 protein-coding gene on human chromosome 2. Long non-coding RNAs, such as SNED1-AS1, are a class of regulatory RNAs that do not encode proteins but may have roles in regulating the expression of neighboring or overlapping genes, including potential regulatory effects on SNED1. There is currently no evidence to support SNED1-AS1 as a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or transporter, and no data on drug interactions, mechanism of action, or biomarker utility. Its precise biological function and potential disease relevance have yet to be elucidated in the scientific literature. SNED1-AS1 should not be confused with the SNED1 protein (Sushi, Nidogen, and EGF-like Domains 1), which is a protein-coding gene with roles in the extracellular matrix. SNED1-AS1 refers specifically to the non-coding RNA gene antisense to SNED1. There is no evidence the target is incorrectly specified, misspelled, or non-existent, but information is currently very limited.
