Voltage-gated sodium channel protein type 2 subunit alpha (Nav1.2) is a transmembrane protein crucial for generating and propagating action potentials in neurons. Encoded by the SCN2A gene, it facilitates the selective passage of Na+ ions across cell membranes in response to voltage changes.
