Target intelligence / Profile preview

Sodium-dependent phosphate transporter protein 2B (NaPi2b)

Target
NaPi2b
Molecular classification
Transporter, SLC34 family of type II sodium-phosphate co-transporters
01

Overview

NaPi2b is a sodium-dependent phosphate transporter protein that plays a crucial role in maintaining phosphate homeostasis by mediating the active transport of inorganic phosphate into cells. It is expressed in various tissues, including the lung, small intestine, salivary glands, mammary glands, liver, and kidney. NaPi2b is significantly overexpressed in several human cancers, including ovarian, lung, thyroid, and breast cancers, making it a promising therapeutic target for antibody-drug conjugates. Inhibition of NaPi2b expression has been shown to suppress tumor growth and proliferation, and promote apoptosis.
