Overview

Sodium reabsorption in renal tubules is a critical physiological process by which the kidneys reclaim sodium ions (Na⁺) from the filtrate produced during blood filtration, thereby maintaining fluid and electrolyte balance, blood pressure, and overall homeostasis. More than 99% of filtered sodium is reabsorbed along different segments of the nephron, with less than 0.4% excreted in urine.
