Soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase 1 (sFlt-1)

Target
sFlt-1
Molecular classification
Receptor, Soluble receptor, VEGF receptor family
01

Overview

Soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 (sFlt-1), also known as soluble vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1 (sVEGFR-1), is a truncated splice variant of the VEGF receptor Flt-1. It acts as a decoy receptor with antiangiogenic properties by binding and sequestering angiogenic factors such as vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and placental growth factor (PlGF), thereby reducing their bioavailability and inhibiting blood vessel formation. Elevated levels are associated with preeclampsia and chronic kidney disease.
