Overview

Solute carrier family 10 member 3 (SLC10A3, also known as P3 protein, DXS253E) is a protein encoded by the SLC10A3 gene in humans[5][7]. It is classified within the SLC10 family of sodium-bile acid co-transporters, a family that includes several well-characterized transporters such as NTCP (SLC10A1) and ASBT (SLC10A2), but SLC10A3 itself does not have experimentally demonstrated transport function or known endogenous substrates[3][8]. The protein is ubiquitously expressed and considered to be a housekeeping gene[5][7]. Its molecular structure predicts a membrane localization, but unlike other family members, its specific biological role remains obscure[6][8]. Associations with certain diseases have been reported, though its mechanistic involvement is not established[7]. No known drugs, biomarkers, or safety concerns are attributed to SLC10A3 at present, nor is it considered a therapeutic target[8].
