Solute carrier family 10 member 5 (SLC10A5) is a predicted membrane transporter belonging to the solute carrier (SLC) family 10, which primarily mediates sodium-dependent transport of bile acids and related molecules. While SLC10A5 is classified as a bile acid:sodium symporter based on sequence homology and family characteristics, its endogenous substrates and specific transport functions remain undetermined. It is most highly expressed in the liver and kidney and is hypothesized to play a role in solute or bile acid transport, but direct experimental demonstration of its substrate specificity is lacking.
