Target intelligence / Profile preview
SLC23A4P is a human pseudogene belonging to the solute carrier family 23, which is ancestral to nucleobase transporters. While the solute carrier families include numerous druggable, functional transporters, SLC23A4P does not encode a functional protein, and its mouse ortholog is protein-coding, unlike the human gene. The gene may have originally been named as a protein-coding family member, but is now recognized as a non-coding pseudogene in humans. As such, it does not participate in known transport, signaling, or disease processes and is not a therapeutic target.
