Solute carrier family 35 member F2 (SLC35F2)

Target
SLC35F2
Molecular classification
Transporter (specifically, nucleotide sugar transporter, membrane-bound carrier), Member of solute carrier (SLC) superfamily
01

Overview

Solute carrier family 35 member F2 (SLC35F2) is a membrane-bound transporter and part of the nucleotide sugar transporter family in the SLC superfamily[5][3]. It is the only known high-specificity transporter for the micronutrient nucleobase queuine and the nucleoside queuosine, both acquired from the gut microbiome and incorporated into transfer RNAs to regulate translation fidelity and cellular adaptation to stress[1]. SLC35F2 is upregulated in multiple cancers, including lung adenocarcinoma, papillary thyroid carcinoma, bladder, and pancreatic cancers, correlating with aggressive disease features, metastasis, and poor patient prognosis[2][3][5]. It modulates cell proliferation, migration, invasion, regulates apoptosis and the p53 pathway, and plays a role in the uptake of specific anticancer drugs such as YM155[7][3]. Expression and activity of SLC35F2 are closely linked to cancer biology, making it a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for patient stratification and intervention.
