Somatostatin receptor 3 (SSTR3)

Target
SSTR3
Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor, Receptor
01

Overview

Somatostatin receptor 3 (SSTR3) is a G protein-coupled receptor that mediates the effects of somatostatin. It is involved in inhibiting hormone secretion, antiproliferative effects, and neuromodulation. SSTR3 is highly expressed in the brain (notably neuronal cilia), pancreatic islets, and anterior pituitary gland. It is targeted by endogenous peptides (somatostatins) and synthetic drugs to modulate hormone release or inhibit tumor growth.
