Somatostatin Receptor Subtype 4 (SSTR4)

Target
SSTR4
Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor, GPCR, Receptor
01

Overview

Somatostatin receptor subtype 4 (SSTR4) is a G protein-coupled receptor that binds somatostatin. SSTR4 mediates analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antidepressant effects without significant endocrine actions. It is expressed in the brain, lung, and other tissues and plays a role in learning, memory, and amyloid beta-peptide degradation. SSTR4 is a potential therapeutic target for chronic pain, neurodegenerative diseases, epilepsy, and depression.
