Somatostatin Receptor Type 1 (SSTR1)

Target
SSTR1
Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor, GPCR, Somatostatin receptor subfamily, Receptor
01

Overview

Somatostatin receptor type 1 (SSTR1) is a G protein-coupled receptor that mediates the biological effects of somatostatin. It inhibits the release of various hormones and secretory proteins and is involved in regulating endocrine, neuronal, and gastrointestinal functions. SSTR1 has been implicated as a potential tumor suppressor, with altered expression observed in certain cancers. Synthetic ligands targeting SSTR1 are being investigated for treating endocrine tumors.
