Overview

Sorcin pseudogene 2 (SRIP2) is a processed pseudogene located on the X chromosome at region Xq21.31, spanning base pairs 89,367,435 to 89,367,600[3]. It is a non-functional genomic remnant related to the functional sorcin gene (SRI), but does not encode a protein and is not known to be transcribed or have a current biological or clinical role. No therapeutic roles, drug interactions, disease associations, or biomarker utility are reported in the literature[3]. Key point: Sorcin pseudogene 2 (SRIP2) is not a protein, enzyme, receptor, or therapeutic target—unlike the functional Sorcin (SRI) gene, which plays a well-documented role in calcium homeostasis, cancer, and multidrug resistance[1][2][4][5]. The two entities should not be confused.
