Sorting nexin-20 (SNX20) is a member of the sorting nexin family, defined by a central Phox (PX) homology domain which mediates association with endosomal membranes[1][3]. SNX20 is involved in regulation of endosomal trafficking and cellular vesicle sorting[2][5]. It has been shown to mediate the endosomal targeting of specific proteins, such as selectin ligand PSGL-1, potentially impacting processes such as cell adhesion and immune cell migration[3][5]. The gene is expressed in human tissues and its promoter methylation status has been identified as a biomarker in lung adenocarcinoma, where it is associated with worse prognosis if hypermethylated[2]. SNX20 has also been linked to inflammatory processes and may participate in broader roles associated with sorting nexins in cardiovascular health and disease[2][4]. There are currently no clinically validated drugs targeting SNX20, and its direct biochemical mechanisms or drug interactions remain underexplored.
