Overview

Sorting nexin-30 (SNX30) is a member of the sorting nexin protein family, belonging to the SNX-BAR subfamily characterized by the presence of both a PX (phox homology) domain and a C-terminal BAR (Bin/Amphiphysin/Rvs) domain[1][5]. SNX30 is a cytoplasmic protein with membrane association properties due to its lipid-binding PX domain. It is predicted to bind phosphatidylinositols and plays a role in endosomal trafficking, autophagosome assembly, and protein transport within cells[3]. While other family members have established roles in receptor sorting and endosomal signaling, the precise physiological or pathophysiological roles of SNX30 remain poorly characterized. There is currently no evidence that SNX30 is a therapeutic target, nor are there specific drugs or biomarkers associated with it. Dysfunction among the broader sorting nexin family can contribute to disease processes, particularly those impacting endocytosis or intracellular trafficking, but SNX30-specific disease links have not been established[3][5].
